19 killed in Mexico Drug Rehab Attack

I have a great idea. Lets pass an amnesty law and let these common criminals immigrate to America and become U.S. citizens. Better yet, lets attack anyone who tries to do anything to stop it as Nazis and racists. It’ll be fun.

Gunmen stormed a private drug and alcohol treatment clinic in northern Mexico and opened fire, killing 19 people and wounding four, authorities said Friday.

Dozens of armed men arrived in a convoy outside the church-run facility Fe y Vida, or Faith and Life, about 11 p.m. Thursday.

Rene Castillo, the center’s pastor, said the men, outfitted with protective vests and face masks, first claimed to be police officers. They fatally shot some of the victims in their rooms, but herded most outside the three-story center before executing them, Castillo said by telephone from the city of Chihuahua.

Castillo said the facility housed two dozen men ages 17 to 60. Some had been gang members involved in criminal activities at one time, he said. But the pastor said the victims were trying to get their lives together.

“They were looking for a way forward,” he said.

The attack was the first such incident in Chihuahua, capital of the border state of the same name.

A number of similar clinic attacks, including one in September that left 18 people dead, have taken place in Ciudad Juarez, about 220 miles north of Chihuahua city and the deadliest place in the country as a result of soaring spiraling drug violence.

Drug treatment centers, many of them fly-by-night operations employing questionable strong-arm methods, are targeted by criminal gangs because they sometimes harbor addicts from rival groups or are used as hide-outs, recruiting grounds and drug-selling points, officials and analysts say.

A spokesman for the Chihuahua state prosecutor’s office said the shooters Thursday night left behind written messages, but he declined to reveal the contents. Hit men in Mexico’s drug war frequently scrawl threatening or taunting notes and drop them alongside the bodies of their enemies.

Authorities did not specify a motive for the attack.

Martin Sandoval, a neighbor who was once treated at the center, said he heard at least three extended bursts of gunfire from what sounded like automatic weapons.

“There were a lot of shots,” he said in a telephone interview.

More than 23,000 people have been killed amid drug-related violence in Mexico since December 2006, when President Felipe Calderon declared war on drug cartels and mobilized troops to fight them.

Since then, the state with the largest number of killings has been Chihuahua, though its capital has largely escaped the worst of the mayhem.

Calderon, in South Africa to watch Mexico play in the leadoff game of the World Cup, issued a statement condemning the latest clinic attack and vowed not to let up in his offensive against traffickers.

“They are outrageous acts that reinforce the conviction of the need to fight with the full force of the law against criminal groups that carry out such acts of barbarism,” Calderon said.

Sandoval said he knew a number of the men at the drug facility and that some were members of the Mexicles gang, which has battled with another violent gang in northern Chihuahua state, the Aztecas.

The two groups are aligned with rival drug cartels that have fought furiously over control of the cross-border smuggling route around Ciudad Juarez.

Castillo, the pastor, said he was at a loss for what might have led to the bloodshed.

“I don’t know why,” he said. “We don’t have problems with anyone.”

Man killed by fake census worker

HOUSTON—A man was killed and his family members beaten after three suspects barged into a north Houston home Saturday afternoon, police said.

Investigators said one of the suspects pretended to be a census worker to gain entry into the house, located in the 400 block of Truman.

Family members said the victim’s son opened the door for the suspects, believing they were with the census.

Larry Johnson Jr., the nephew of the victim, said the suspects tied up and beat his cousin and aunt after barging into to the home.

Johnson said his uncle, Reginald “Pete” Haynes, walked in on the crime and was ambushed.

“They tied him up and stabbed him and tried to submerge him in water,” Johnson said.

Haynes later died at the hospital.

Family members said the men ransacked the house for two hours.

“They were looking for money and my aunt gave them everything that they had and it wasn’t enough for them,” Johnson said.

Neighbor Randell Harmon said he even watched the suspects leave after the crime and had no idea what had happened.

“I saw three gentlemen walk out and I didn’t think anything of it,” Harmon said. “They didn’t look at me. They got in the truck and they left.”

The incident left people in the community fearful about who might come knocking at their door.

“They’ve taken something precious from us,” Johnson said. “They really have.”

Neighbors said census-takers started working their street weeks ago.

According to HPD, the suspect who claimed to be a census worker showed no ID badge. Investigators said they don’t have a good description of any of the suspects.

Andy Dick Mug shot Andy Dick Arrested for Sexual Abuse

Andy Dick Mugshot Mug shotAt least this mug shot isn’t as creepy as the last.

Perpetually troubled funnyman Andy Dick was arrested in West Virginia Saturday morning on two felony charges of first-degree sexual abuse, the Huntington Police Department confirms to E! News.

Police are keeping the details under wraps, due to the ongoing investigation, but the comedian is expected to be arraigned early this afternoon. Dick is in West Virgina for six-scheduled performances throughout the weekend at the Funny Bone Comedy Club, and, according to a club rep, Saturday night’s show will go on.

“He had two shows last night and dominated, he was on fire,” Funny Bone manager Tom Schaefer tells E!, “the best I’ve ever seen him.”

Dick was reportedly celebrating his sobriety early Friday, but a source who was with the actor throughout the day tells E! that by the end out the night, the former Celebrity Rehab castoff had fallen off the wagon.

Officers responded to a call at Rum Runners nightclub, where two victims, a bartender and clubgoer, as well as several witnesses, alleged Dick “engaged in unwanted, and uninvited groping of the two victims genital areas,” according to a statement from the Huntington PD. ”

Dick’s newest legal woes come while he’s on probation for a similar crime, following a 2008 arrest for allegedly exposing himself to and groping a teenage girl.

The actor avoided jail time but was sentenced to three years’ probation, a portion of which he needed to wear a SCRAM ankle bracelet to detect any drug and alcohol use.

St. Louis Shooting eight shot, three killed

ST. LOUIS (Reuters) – A gunman opened fire on Thursday at electrical products company ABB Power, where he worked on the assembly line, killing at least one co-worker and wounding several others, authorities said.

U.S.

In a chaotic scene at ABB Power, a unit of Swiss-based ABB Ltd, a wounded worker hid in an office and others fled to the rooftop awaiting rescue, while the gunman remained on the loose.

A nearby highway was closed, as police feared the gunman had fled out a back entrance.

ABB Ltd is based in Zurich, and has 120,000 employees making electrical equipment in facilities around the world.

“This is obviously a very serious situation and we are working to gather more information as it becomes available. The welfare of our employees is of utmost importance to us,” the company in Zurich said in a statement.

ABB officials in St Louis identified the gunman to police as Timothy Hendron, 51, an assembly line worker at the plant that makes electrical transformers.

One company official told police Hendron had been dismissed, but a motive for the shooting was not immediately clear.

Hendron was a plaintiff in a class-action federal lawsuit against the company and its pension review committee over financial losses, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

A neighbor said Hendron was a hunter and owned guns.

Armed with a rifle and a handgun, the gunman started firing in the parking lot and then stormed the facility, local radio reported.
