A South Korea couple were arrested for starving their baby to death, according to CNN. Gizmodo stated that their premature, three-month-old daughter received powder milk feedings once a day while the parents were taking a break from 12 hour intervals at their local internet cafe.

The couple neglected their own baby, because they were busy raising a virtual one. They were so indulged in raising their virtual baby, Anima, in the popular Korean RPG, “Prius Online”.

“The couple seemed to have lost their will to live a normal life, because they didn’t have jobs and gave birth to a premature baby,” said Chung Jin-won, a police officer.

“They indulged themselves in the online game of raising a virtual character so as to escape from reality, which led to the death of their real baby.”

It is unfortunate that this virtual infant had more of its parents attention than the one that they could actually hold, love and care for. It is sad that this premature baby’s life ended in a premature death, as well.
