Burning body found on 210 Freeway in Claremont

I heard about this on the radio as I was on my way to have breakfast with my daughters. I passed the incident and there were at least ten news vans, ten cop and coroner cars and vans examining the crime scene.

On the way home I had to drive directly past the crime scene, but instead decided to get off the 210 at Baseline Road where the body actually was. There is no Monte Vista exit on the 210 freeway.

Once off the freeway, I was diverted to another street because a moving van had crashed through a wall and into a backyard at the corner of Baseline and Benson. What a mess.

Once through all of these maladies, I managed to get home just in time to get ready for work. A wonderful day in the San Gabriel Valley. JD

Los Angeles County firefighters discovered a charred body after extinguishing a fire on the side of the 210 Freeway in Claremont this morning.
The California Highway Patrol received a call of a brush fire on the eastbound 210 east of Base Line Road at 3:40 a.m. The location is about 20 feet from the San Bernardino County line.

“The Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived on scene and discovered there was a body that had been set on fire,” said CHP Officer Steven Cuevas.

Claremont police came to the scene at 4:10 a.m. to investigate the death. The slow lane has been closed for an unknown duration.
