Worried Moms Ruin Organized Sports

baseball mom ruins gameI often wonder why people play soccer. It truly is one of the lamest sports I have ever seen. The field is too big, the goal is bigger than a garage door and quite frankly, I don’t see how anyone could possibly miss making a goal.

However, after taking my daughter to a local park yesterday for some R & R, I saw first hand why soccer has become so popular for kids to play. Its because soccer is a game that girls can play as well as boys.

So while enjoying a late lunch at the park yesterday, there were several games being played. Two baseball games and a soccer game. Now when I was a kid, there were rarely any moms there to ruin the fun. On the rare occasion that a mom was there, the child of said mom was ridiculed off the field with taunts like ” Oh you brought your mommy to show you how to play.”

Today that has all been erased by the psycho moms that permeate the field screaming at each other about how their kid was in some way wronged by the other kids.

These moms walk about the field yelling and screaming at each other to the point that the coaches and officials have to get involved. Its ridiculous. Yesterday during a baseball game, one mom almost punched another mom. The umpire had to threaten to call the cops if the woman didn’t leave.

It wasn’t this way when I was a kid. Sure some of the dads would go at it over their kids not being played enough or if there was an errant pitch, but that was it.

Now moms are involved and organized sports seems to have gone to hell. It wasn’t until a foul ball came my way that I learned that moms decided that regulation hard baseballs might her the little Skippy so now the hard balls are soft balls that look like hard balls.

Here is another dynamic that didn’t exist when I was a kid. Team moms. WTF? Team moms? These annoying yentas sit there with snacks and drinks for the kids and basically wreck the game for all involved.

Snacks and drinks? This is baseball, not Frisbee golf! The moms are out there yelling at each about how one kid is being mean and looking angry at this kid or that kid, all the while the team mom is sitting there on her ice chest full of goodies trying to keep the peace. What the hell has the great American past time come to?

While watching these annoying yentas yell at their own kids, their husbands and the umpires because their little Skippy was unfairly glared at by the pitcher, the game came to an end . . . and get this? Nobody won!

These psycho moms have managed to convince league officials that its “not nice” to have winners and losers at such a young age because it might hurt the kids feelings. No score? WTF??? Is that really the kind of world we want our kids to grow up in where there is no winners and losers?

What kind of lesson does that teach our kids mom? Perhaps to not try hard because it doesn’t matter anyway? Don’t apply yourself because you might fail?

Have any of you women ever heard the saying “adversity builds character?” You women are trying to create a world for your Skippy where there is no adversity which will lead to your kid having no character.

Do America a favor and stop meddling in man sports. Take your Gatorade and orange slices and go home. Let your boys be boys. Let them break arms and take a fast ball to the noggin once in a while. You won’t regret it later when your Skippy doesn’t turn gay. Joe

How times have changed

Thinking back to my childhood and growing up in the suburbs of Los Angeles, I can remember how different things were back then as compared to now. I tell my kids and they always say “Oh no. Here he goes again.”

But it goes without saying that back in the 60′s and 70′s times were a lot better than they are today. Contrary to what you read, not all of us were bogged down in trying to “Change America” in the hippie movement. Some of us were busy being kids and enjoying life.

There used to be a time where you could leave your bike in the front yard and no one would steal it. Locking the house for the night meant closing the screen door. Get this . . . you could leave your garage door open all night without fear of it being emptied out while you slept.

Today, you can’t leave your garden hose out front without a band of miscreants coming through your neighborhood and stealing it. Out here in LA, fire hydrants have PVC caps on them. Why? Because since the invasion from the south, people steal the brass caps and recycle them.

Nothing is sacred anymore. Bands of pirates roam the streets at night going from neighborhood to neighborhood looking for anything to steal. Even brass commemorative plaques in front of churches and city halls are stolen and recycled.

I know some of you are not old enough to remember this, but there was a time and a day where getting a new toy out of a box didn’t require an Exacto knife, a wire cutter and a pair of scissors.

Now on the holidays we spend more time getting toys out of the packages then we do putting them together. Its ridiculous. But you need to understand the reason for this. Because unlike when I was a kid, people will steal ANYTHING that they can.

Back in my day, an act of vandalism was wetting paper towels and throwing them on the ceiling of the restrooms. Today it involves destroying everything and painting graffiti all over it when your done.

I was once in a public restroom doing my business when I heard a band of pirates approaching. Not knowing how many and how old they might be, I finished up and was getting ready to walk out of the stall when one of them kicked the door in and broke the latch.

As I came out of the stall, the others were trying to smash the sink off and kicking the paper towel dispenser. Two others were spray painting graffiti on the walls. Mind you that they had obviously came there to destroy the place.

Not one of these kids ( and that’s what they were, kids) were older than fourteen years old. Unfortunately, they were all Hispanic. I started yelling at them and they beat feet out the door but not before I had the chance to call the cops and give them a full description and told them which direction they ran.

I waited for almost an hour before a police cruiser showed up. The police officer didn’t seem too concerned. I asked if they had caught the kids and he said no. I asked if they had even looked for them and he said “This happens all the time.”

I gathered that he meant “Whats the point?” I guess they figure that there is no point to catch these kids because nothing will be done about it anyway.

That’s really what it all comes down to. We have people living in America that teach their kids to be criminals. They are fourth and fifth generation gang bangers and tell their kids that its part of their culture. Its sickening.

When you point out the disparity of behavior today and that of when I was a child you are always met with the same sorry excuses, but the reality is that the people that created this mess are the same idiots that are running America today.

The hippies of the 60′s and 70′s are to blame. The day that we were no longer able to give our kids a good slapping for bad behavior was the day that the kids began to rule the roost. The idea that smacking your kids makes them violent is absolute nonsense.

If one were to look back before the sixties, one would find that violent crime was a mere fraction of what it is today. That’s because when kids acted out they took a beating. Plain and simple. Now kids as young as twelve are routinely arrested for murder. It doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to figure out that its because parents are no longer allowed to discipline their children.

I know there is a lot more to this then just the inability to discipline our kids, but it all starts at home. My father used to smack me around when I acted out. Today, if you so much as look at your kids cross eyed, they tell their teacher, who tells the principal who calls the cops on you.

With all of this comes the fact that no one seems to care anymore. No one really tries to make a stand for right over wrong. If you try to address the issues in our group think society, you are ostracized by your peers.

Come out and say that illegal immigration is wrong and your a racist. Tell someone that you use corporal punishment on your kids and your a child abuser. Dare to say that you think that people should be responsible for their own actions and you are labeled a Nazi.

That’s America today. People are so concerned with the way others perceive them that they are willing to sell their souls to the devil to be part of the group. To fit in. Too be accepted. Its all such bullshit.

All I know was that when I was a kid you could walk home from school and not have to worry about being kidnapped. You could go out in the dark of night and not worry about being robbed or killed. There weren’t a bunch of thugs outside of the store waiting to shake you down for a couple of bucks for daring to shop there.

When will it end? Never as long as we allow it to happen. One day the good people of America will rise up and stop this nonsense. But until that day comes, lock your doors and load your guns. JD
