Thank you to the people of Oakland that caught this guy and beat the crap out of him. I can’t believe they didn’t kill the guy. A 21-year-old man Oakland police say threw his daughter in front of a moving car is in custody after an off-duty police officer arrested him Saturday.

Police say the officer saw the man shake the 18-month girl and throw her into oncoming traffic on Fifth Avenue near East 15th Street around 5:39 p.m. Saturday. An oncoming Volkswagon Jetta almost hit the toddler, police say, but the car’s undercarriage burned and scraped the girl, police say.

The girl lives with her mother and had been visiting with her father that day. After he allegedly threw his baby daughter into the lane of traffic, he took off running, pounding on and kicking cars along the way, police said.

While a neighbor pulled the baby girl out from underneath the Jetta, police chased Taylor down.

“When I took the baby, it continued crying and I thought, that’s a good sign.” Diana Castro told the Oakland Tribune. “She’s still breathing in. She was so scared, she was grabbing my neck and couldn’t stop crying. I was asking people, ‘Whose baby is this?’ and nobody knew.”

Drivers in the neighborhood had also been trying to stop Taylor as he ran from cops. When officers caught up with him, they found him in a violent scuffle with those motorists. Police hit Taylor with a Taser and arrested him.

Taylor was arrested on suspicion of of willful cruelty to a child, vandalism, resisting arrest and battery on a police officer.
