Michelle Shocked Under Attack After Anti-Gay Rant On Stage In San Francisco

Last time I checked, people were still allowed to disagree with popular opinion in the United States of America. What is going on in this country where Americans are not allowed to have an opposing opinion to anything being pushed by the left?

Michelle Shocked, a one time lesbian, has found the lord almighty and has decided that Homosexuality is not for her. If Miss Shocked has decided that she disagree’s with the mainstream media terror campaign against anyone that says homosexuality is wrong, that is her prerogative and privilege as an American.

The democrat party in America should be brought up and charges for what they have done to this country. Their campaign of propaganda against morality and justice would make Adolf Hitler’s minister of propaganda Joseph Goebbels pink with envy.

Alt-folk singer Michelle Shocked, who gained wide fame on college radio and MTV in the late 80s and early 90s but has more recently become a born-again Christian, literally shocked audiences on Sunday at Yoshi’s San Francisco when during her second set she launched into a hate-filled speech about gays and gay marriage. “I live in fear,” she said, “that the world will be destroyed if gays are allowed to marry.”

Yoshi’s plugged the show calling Shocked “The most sophisticated hillbilly you ever met,” and her earlier reputation was one of a punk folkie who skateboarded, fought for progressive causes, and dug rock and roll. Indeed her politics still veer toward the left, as she was arrested during an Occupy L.A. protest, and she still calls herself “a radical skateboard punk-rock anarchist.” (Her first big album, Short Sharp Shocked, featured a cover photo of a San Francisco riot cop with a choke-hold around her neck during an 1980s protest.)

But as a member of the Pentacostal West Angeles Church of God in Christ, she seems to have become a fundamentalist Christian bigot too. Fans have earlier revolted when Shocked revealed she was anti-abortion as well.

A number of people tweeted about last night’s show (see below), and apparently many audience members walked out after her rant began. Yoshi’s subsequently shut down the show after the audience cleared out.

She also reportedly said, “You can go on Twitter and say ‘Michelle Shocked says God hates fags.’”

Shocked performed her first set without much comment, but returned for her second set with a definite agenda, and an anti-gay message she wanted to make known. Christine Penfield, who was in the audience and whose husband Matt was hired volunteered to live-tweet the show for Michelle from backstage, wrote, “In retrospect [it] seemed clear that she designed the show to deliver this message.” The timing may be motivated by the upcoming Supreme Court decisions on Prop 8 and DOMA.

Shocked, who was born to a Mormon mother and whose real name is Karen Johnston, sounded fairly depressed and at loose ends in this 2005 interview with New York Magazine, revealing her religiosity, discussing her previous alcoholism and failed marriage, and her “political” decision at age 22 to have her tubes tied, which she later regretted after multiple failed attempts at in-vitro fertilization.

She said the original decision was motivated by her desire never to be tempted to have an abortion. “I knew there was going to come a time in my life where I would want to speak vehemently about a woman’s right to choose without having it turned back on me, saying you’re acting out of guilt and shame because you had an abortion. I made the ultimate sacrifice.”

Obamatrons Angry About New Tax Increases

Xerxes_Obama-brokencountry

I am utterly amazed by the fools and idiots on the left that thought that if they re-elected Obama to a second term, he would magically make things better without raising taxes.

Get ready because tax increases are going to become the norm for Obama and his Obamatrons, who have no other way to fix the mess that they created in the first term.

This was exactly what I was trying to tell you Obamatrons right here on the BrokenCountry for the duration of the election cycle.

I was roundly attacked by the hacks on the left as a racist and an idiot for daring to point out the obvious. That is that Obama created socialized medicine and didn’t have any way to pay for it.

Now the chickens have come home to roost. Tax are and will continue to go up on virtually everything we consume to pay for more social spending, and guess who is going to take it the hardest. The poor and middle class.

That’s because taxes on food, alcohol, energy and cigarettes and virtually everything else we consume on a regular basis will go up exponentially.

There is also the staggering cost of inflation that is absolutely crippling the lower and middle class that gets nary a mention by the state controlled media. I am sure everyone has noticed that the local trip to the market for groceries has just about doubled in the last four years. Expect that trend to continue.

Meanwhile back at ground zero, the have the Obamatrons are now just figuring out that they made a horrible mistake by re-electing their messiah to another term in office.

Obamatrons were actually stupid enough to believe that Obama would only go after the people that had applied themselves and succeeded in life and leave them alone. What a scam that was by the democrats. Class warfare works best on the inept idiots of any society.

Enter John Boehner. Boehner who has been thoroughly vilified by both the left and the right in the “fiscal cliff” mini-series that played on the Washington stage, did exactly what he needed to do in those negotiations. He Gave Obama enough rope to hang himself and the entire democrat party.

For those of you that don’t think that all of this isn’t well thought out by the republicans, you couldn’t be more wrong. The republicans took a beating in the last three elections. They understood that America has turned away from fiscal conservatism and turned toward “whats in it for me” coming from the democrats.

How do you deal with this after three poor showings? You let the democrats have their way. You let them run the nation into the ground and create a mess like the one that the European Union has created by letting the democrats spend us into oblivion.

I think its a brilliant strategy all things considered. After all our society has become incredibly stupid when it comes to the best way to run a nation. If you cannot fight a fire with water then why not use fire?

Its a calculated risk that the republicans are willing to take. Let the democrats ruin America with the end result being chaos and bedlam, then step in to pick up the the pieces and put it back together again.

Of course this strategy will hurt us all. But to me its worth the price if it ends the democrat party once and for all, or at least damages the dems to the point that it will take them 50 years to recover.

Out here on the the left coast in California, we have just had major tax hikes thanks to proposition 30 and the massive union rank and file that put that upon us. Federal tax hikes will make it nearly impossible to survive in the state. Hang on to your wallets California.

Obamatrons should rejoice for the short term, because your days riding on the gravy train will be short lived. Once the cold hard reality of the Obama socialist mantle sets its teeth into the working class, you and your way of thinking will die a horrible and costly death. JD

Liberal Vs. Conservative, A look into the differences between the two groups

This article is based purely on my own observations of the liberal mindset versus the conservative mindset. It is not based in any way on scientific evidence and should be considered more for enjoyment purposes only. If you resemble any of the characters in this story it is purely coincidental. JD

I have been on this planet all of a half a century now, and I have seen an amazing divergence in the behavior of the people around me. Friends, close friends, co-workers, people you come into contact from time to time, they all have their own individual way of seeing and perceiving what goes on around them. Here is my own observations of the psychology of the liberal and the conservative.

The liberal is always looking to place blame on others for all that goes wrong in life. He gets a flat tire, and somehow, in some way it was someone else’s fault.

The conservative gets a flat and he calls AAA.

The liberal tends to think that he can change the way others think about a particular issue by calling them names and insinuating that they are stupid.

The conservative understands fully that people are people, most a product of their environment, and if they grow up with the people of authority, parents and teachers that are liberal, they is no way of changing their mind.

The liberal seems to believe that everyone should be equal in life. We should all make the same amount of money, get the same health care, the same ability to purchase etc.

This is not true though for the wealthy liberal of which there are many. Contrary to what the media says, there are as many wealthy liberals in America as there are conservatives.

The conservative understands that people are people and we all make our own way in life. If a man chooses to be a carpenter, the conservative see that as an honorable profession and hopes the carpenter does well in life.

The liberal sees a carpenter as a menial back breaking job and believes that the carpenter is underpaid and overworked and has been cheated in life.

The conservative can talk about political events of the day and tends to ask questions about an issue or conflict and then making an informed opinion and sticks to that opinion even if it may side more with the liberal point of view.

The liberal struggles to remember what they said about that particular issue on CNN last night. After all, liberals tend to just drink the media Kool-Aide and parrot whatever they heard the night before on the nightly news.

The conservative learns of something in the news that makes him angry and he writes his congressman hoping to gain some influence in Washington.

The liberal goes out and “organizes protests” which today has become code words for “lets go loot, destroy other peoples property and burn down the neighborhood.”

The irony here is liberals call conservatives “angry white men.”

The conservative understands that the logging industry is a necessary industry to ensure that Americans have building material to build homes to live in and buildings to work in.

The liberal sees the logging industry as “evil” and goes out and chains themselves to trees or even worse, hammers railroad spikes into the trees (which eventually kills the trees anyway) in the hope that the logger will hit the spike with his chainsaw thus breaking the chain so the logger gets killed.

The conservative tends to hate abortion. Sometimes to the point of bombing clinics and killing doctors. In fact its the one thing about the republican party that confounds me. In fact, at times it makes the party look almost as foolish as the democrat party. Sorry, just being intellectually honest about it.

Liberals on the other hand, think that hospitals should have an assembly line approach to abortion whereas they can do a million a day.

The conservative complains about how much a gallon of gasoline costs, but understands that oil is the lubricant of America.

The liberal wants a world where we all ride bicycles to work and when an oil rig explodes, they have parties.

The conservative knows that hard work in school and life equals an even chance at a good life.

The liberal believes that it is incumbent of the government to provide them with the ability to live. They believe to the core of their being that their own failure in life is the fault of wealthy conservatives and their intention is to “get even” with them by electing liberal politicians.

What these same liberals don’t understand is those same liberal politicians do all that they can to keep the liberal voter in the ghetto.

That’s because its the poor liberal that is nothing more than a modern day slave to the democrat party. Slave in the sense that the more of these poor liberals that the democrats can keep in the ghetto, the longer they can remain in office. Its a perpetuating cycle too complex for the average slave . . . er . . . liberal to understand.

To me that what makes the whole political situation in America so ironical in the first place. On the one hand you have slaves to the democrat machine. On the other you have people that are saying carry your own weight. Hard work pays off every time. Its tried and true. JD

Hillary Clinton Says World Governments ‘Slowly Crushing’ Activists

Well, it looks as if Hillary Clinton has rounded the bend into the wonderful world of insanity. Is Hillary crazy? Its the same story here in America, where anyone that disagrees with Obama is called everything from stupid to racist.

We have a national media in America that runs stories about children and the poor to get American coalesced into a bunch of pansies and idiots that will just go along with the group think mentality.

We have the democrat party that seems hell bent to stymie freedom of thought, speech and religion. Hillary Clinton, one of the wealthiest women in Washington, takes great pride in calling America’s corporate leaders “greedy” and Tea Party members “racists and Nazi’s.”

This is the norm right here in America. There is enormous pressure brought to bear on anyone that does not go along with the group think mentality.

Amazingly enough, it has taken almost a year and a half for most Americans to admit that they have been sold a bill of good by the democrats for electing President Obama.

Clearly Obama doesn’t have a clue as to how to lead the nation. Obama has surrounded himself with a bunch of political activists in his cabinet that are openly hostile to the private sector.

Corporate America is constantly under threat of being regulated out of existence or “NATIONALIZED” by the administration.

All of this is at the behest of people like Hillary Clinton who attack the very activists she claims are being crushed in other countries.

Clinton should look inward and see what her own words over the years have done to quash freedom and activism right here in America before she traverses the world at the taxpayers expense to ridicule other nations. JD

Obama admits health care reform may die in congress

Its about time President Obama realizes that people do not want government sponsored health care. The federal government mismanages virtually every program they currently run, why would health care be any different?

The people of America did not vote for this kind of “Change” offered by the Obama administration. It turns out that the 2008 election was not about change at all. It was a vote AGAINST John McCain and Sarah Palin.

The democrats are now crying foul about the republicans not working with them, yet for his entire first year in office, Obama all but ignored the republicans, choosing instead to walk around Washington with his “Mandate from the people” mentality, thinking he did not need the republicans anyway.

Nothing like watching Obama get knocked a few rungs down the political ladder. Perhaps now he will be an effective president. One more thing. Get rid of your speaker of the house. Pelosi is an embarrassment to the democrat party. JD

WASHINGTON – After insisting for a year that failure was not an option, President Barack Obama is now acknowledging his health care overhaul may die in Congress.

His remarks at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser Thursday night sounded contradictory at times, complicating congressional leaders’ effort to revive health care legislation as Democrats hunger for guidance from the White House. Even while saying he still wanted to get the job done, Obama counseled going slow, and bowed to new political realities. Democrats no longer command a filibuster-proof Senate majority, and voters and lawmakers are far more concerned with jobs and the economy than with enacting sweeping and expensive changes to the health system.

“I think it’s very important for us to have a methodical, open process over the next several weeks, and then let’s go ahead and make a decision,” Obama said Thursday night.

“And it may be that … if Congress decides we’re not going to do it, even after all the facts are laid out, all the options are clear, then the American people can make a judgment as to whether this Congress has done the right thing for them or not,” the president said. “And that’s how democracy works. There will be elections coming up and they’ll be able to make a determination and register their concerns one way or the other during election time.”

It seemed to be a shift in tone for the issue Obama campaigned on and made the centerpiece of his domestic agenda last year.

“Here’s the key, is to not let the moment slip away,” Obama also said.

Sweeping health legislation to extend medical coverage to more than 30 million uninsured Americans passed both chambers of Congress last year and was on the verge of completion before Republican Scott Brown’s upset victory in a Massachusetts special U.S. Senate election last month. Brown was sworn in Thursday, giving Republicans 41 votes, enough to block the initiatives of the Democratic majority.

Now the health legislation hangs in limbo. Lawmakers are looking to Obama for a path forward, but he has not publicly offered specifics. His signals have been mixed. At the DNC event he said Republicans should be part of the process — something they’ve shown little interest in and that would doubtlessly drag out a legislative effort that many rank-and-file Democrats want to end quickly. The health care bill has become unpopular with the public and a political drag for lawmakers.

“The next step is what I announced at the State of the Union, which is to call on our Republican friends to present their ideas. What I’d like to do is have a meeting whereby I’m sitting with the Republicans, sitting with the Democrats, sitting with health care experts, and let’s just go through these bills. … And then I think that we’ve got to go ahead and move forward on a vote,” Obama said Thursday.

“But as I said at the State of the Union, I think we should be very deliberate, take our time. We’re going to be moving a jobs package forward over the next several weeks; that’s the thing that’s most urgent right now in the minds of Americans all across the country.”

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters on Friday that there is no meeting set yet for the president to talk over health care strategy with Republican and Democratic lawmakers.

“There’s nothing on the block on this right now,” he said. “But I think this just goes to the president continuing to want to hear ideas.”

Bipartisan congressional leaders are planning to join Obama at the White House on Tuesday, but Gibbs reiterated that the meeting will be centered on how to create jobs and boost the economy.

Obama had also said Thursday night that “we’ve got to move forward on a vote” on health care. When asked what the president meant by that, Gibbs said only that White House officials are “still working with Capitol Hill on the best way forward.”

Obama’s comments came just hours after he met Thursday afternoon with Democratic congressional leaders, but the discussion focused mostly on jobs, and the leaders emerged with no announcement about a path ahead for health care. Rank-and-file Democrats are eager for them to settle on one by the end of next week, after which lawmakers will return to their states and districts for a weeklong recess where they’ll likely face questions from voters on the issue.

Don Stewart, spokesman for Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, said Friday that the White House has not requested a sit-down on health care with Republicans.

“The president wants to start over on health care? Sen. McConnell’s been saying that for months,” said Stewart.
