Los Angeles Concert Scene In The 70′s and 80′s and Wolf And Rissmiller’s Country Club in Reseda

So I was cleaning out the garage and enjoying a cold beer when on my work bench I saw my fathers coffee cup that he used when I was a kid. In this coffee cup are just a few ticket stubs from concerts I went to when I was a young man.

As a teen and a young man I was lucky enough to have a good friend that owned a ticket service (scalper) and I used to work for him from time to time to help him “acquire” these concert and sporting event tickets.

I could see any band any time anywhere. I went to the the Dodger games in the world series in 1988 and sat in row 12 section 22 between first base and home plate on the isle.

So I took some picture of some of the concert stubs for you all to see and laugh at and ridicule. Click the image to see a close up view of them.

Look at this image and click it. You can see that I saw Heart at the Whisky A Go-Go in 1981 when Heart was so big that they sold out 8 nights at the Forum in Los Angeles in two hours.

Rumor has it that the band was tired of huge arena and stadium gigs and wanted to play a club so they could see the people.

The opening band was a band called “The Heat.” Ann Wilson came out for their encore and sang “I’m Down” by the Beatles. Right before she came out a woman sat down in an empty seat next to me, vacated by my friend who went to secure us some beers.

I fired up a fatty and was getting high when I turned to see this beautiful blond sitting in my friends seat. It was Nancy Wilson. She came out to watch her sister sing with the opening act.

Also of note is the ticket stubs say “KMET” which was a rock and roll power house station here in Los Angeles when I was a kid.

Right in the middle is a ticket stub from Wolf and RIssmiller’s country club in Reseda.

I can’t tell you how many huge acts I saw there in their heyday. It was nuts. Anyway, look read and enjoy my memories. JD
