Radioactive Tuna From Japan Hits US Shores

Okay. I want everyone to read this story and tell me what you think. Note that the article simply says things like “researchers” and “The expert” yet no reliable source is noted in the story. But like the saps that we have become, we will walk the earth for the next few days telling anyone that will listen that tuna is radioactive. Ugh . . .

Radiation from Japan’s nuclear meltdown keeps hitting US shores: The latest comes in the form of the bluefin tuna, a massive fish that can top 1,000 pounds and which spawn off the coast of Japan and rocket 6,000 miles across the Pacific to school off of California and Baja California. Bluefins arriving on the West Coast five months after the Fukushima disaster showed much higher levels of cesium-134 and cesium-137 than previous specimens. “We were frankly kind of startled,” one of the researchers tells the AP.

Underscoring that surprise is the time and distance involved since the bluefins were first exposed to the radiation—in which scientists expected they would have metabolized and shed much of the cesium. “That’s a big ocean. To swim across it and still retain these radionuclides is pretty amazing,” says the expert. The bad-good news: Though the bluefins’ cesium levels were more than 10 times higher than normal, they are still considered safe to eat under both US and Japanese regulations. Scientists plan a more comprehensive study this summer.

Dallas Robbery Suspect Falls From Crane To His Death

A robbery suspect, who climbed to the top of a construction crane on the Southern Methodist University campus on Monday and threatened to shoot police officers, fell to his death early Tuesday morning, ending a standoff that had started over 12 hours earlier.

Dallas SWAT officers, SMU police and University Park police all first responded to the scene, just outside Gerald J. Ford Stadium, on the south side of the SMU campus, around 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Police locked down the SMU campus and a nearby shopping center as a precaution. The campus had already been closed for the Memorial Day holiday, and only essential personnel were working, according to Brad Cheves, SMU’s Vice President for Internal Affairs. Campus police told those employees to leave the area.

The man was believed to be the same suspect in an aggravated robbery case which took place early Monday morning in the 1300 block of Commerce Street in downtown Dallas. That person stole a truck with band equipment, crashed into vehicles while careening through the streets and lead police on a pursuit that ended on the SMU campus. Police sources said that the suspect then climbed the crane in an attempt to escape.

The suspect has not been identified, and Sr. Cpl. Melinda Gutierrez with the Dallas Police Department would not confirm reports of the cases being connected.

The temperature in Dallas on Monday reached 95 degrees. Gutierrez said that the crane did not have power or air conditioning. At one point during the standoff, the man in the crane could be seen getting sick due to the heat. He began throwing up, and was witnessed taking off his shirt and shoes before breaking out a window and tossing the items out to the ground below.

As the hours passed on Monday, many rescue crews and officers rotated shifts to cover the scene.

The man spoke with authorities throughout much of the day on a two-way radio inside the crane’s cab. But communication broke off in the evening hours of Monday because he was reportedly afraid of going to jail. Around 9:30 p.m. on Monday evening, the suspect started throwing items from inside the crane’s cab. It is unclear what the items were. As time passed, the items grew larger, and included a box and the cab’s fire extinguisher.

A CBS 11 News photojournalist on the scene said that police officers climbed the tower early Tuesday morning in an attempt to reach the suspect. As the four officers approached, the man began spraying something from a bottle. “As the officers were attempting entry, they found the entry deck had been covered with grease by the suspect,” said Deputy Chief Randall Blankenbaker. “And as they were attempting entry, the suspect began spraying a substance at them, similar to WD-40.”

Eventually, the man tossed the spray can out of the side window and himself climbed out of the front window of the cab. Then, just before 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, the suspect fell to his death while attempting to move himself from the outside front of the cab to the side.

Although the suspect had claimed to have a weapon, officers on scene said that he never showed a gun, and it appeared as though he never had one.

The scene remains active as police attempt to recover the man’s body. Parts of the area will remain blocked on Tuesday as authorities continue their investigation. However, campus operations at SMU are expected to continue as normal.

The crane is being used to build the Residential Commons, a future housing area near the football stadium.

FONTANA – A 16-year-old Fontana girl was shot and killed Saturday night while with a group of friends at a city park.

Naked Miami man killed by Police for ‘eating’ face off victim

One man was shot to death by Miami police, and another man is fighting for his life after he was attacked, and his face allegedly half eaten, by a naked man on the MacArthur Causeway off ramp Saturday, police said.

The horror began about 2 p.m. when a series of gunshots were heard on the ramp, which is along NE 13th Street, just south of The Miami Herald building.

According to police sources, a road ranger saw a naked man chewing on another man’s face and shouted on his loud speaker for him to back away.Meanwhile, a woman also saw the incident and flagged down a police officer who was in the area.

The officer, who has not been identified, approached and, seeing what was happening, also ordered the naked man to back away. When he continued the assault, the officer shot him, police sources said. The attacker failed to stop after being shot, forcing the officer to continue firing. Witnesses said they heard at least a half dozen shots.

Miami police were on the scene, which was just south of The Miami Herald building on Biscayne Boulevard. The naked man who was killed lay face down on the pedestrian walkway just below the newspaper’s two-story parking garage. Police have requested The Herald’s video surveillance tapes.

The other man was transported to the hospital with critical injuries, according to police. Their identities were not released.

The incident, which came as crowds descended upon South Beach for the annual Urban Beach Week hip-hop festival, snarled traffic on the causeway for several hours.

In a text message, Javier Ortiz, spokesman for Miami police’s Fraternal Order of Police, said the officer who fired the fatal shots was “a hero.”

“Based on the information provided, our Miami police officer is a hero and saved a life,’’ he said.

Sergeant Altarr Williams, supervisor of Miami police’s Homicide Unit, said a man doesn’t have to be armed to be dangerous.

“There are other ways to injure people,’’ Williams said. “Some people know martial arts, others are very strong and can kill you with their hands.’’

Investigators believe the victim may have been homeless and laying down when the crazed man pounced.

Police theorize the attacker might have been suffering from “cocaine psychosis,” a drug-induced craze that bakes the body internally and often leads the affected to strip naked to try and cool off.

Chris Matthews blasts ‘horse’s ass right-wingers’

Can anyone imagine a person that is so surely “convinced” that their ideology is superior to any other person on earth? I am absolutely amazed at Chris Matthews, who on occasions too numerous to mention called people on the right stupid, horses ass, jerk offs, idiots, etc.

Come on Chris, what are you ten years old? What are you going to do next Chris? Go tell your dad so he can come beat up my dad?

Can you imagine a world Chris where everyone had the same political ideology as you? The same thought process as you? It would be incredibly boring.

Lets not forget Chris you are the same guy that said “Rush Limbaugh is beginning to look more and more like Mr. Big, and at some point somebody’s going to jam a CO2 pellet into his head and he’s going to explode like a giant blimp. That day may come. Not yet, but we’ll be there to watch.”

Chris Matthews also said “When I watched him [former President Bill Clinton] at Mrs. King’s funeral, I just have never seen anything like it . . . . There are times when he sounds like Jesus in the temple. I mean, amazing ability to transcend ethnicity . . . and speak to us all in this amazingly primordial way.”

Chris Matthews also said “[Barack Obama has] come from a white family and a black family, and he’s married to a black woman, and they’re cool people. They are really cool. They are Jack and Jackie Kennedy when you see them together. They are cool. And they’re great-looking, and they’re cool and they’re young, and they’re — everything seems to be great. If you’re in the room with Obama, you feel the spirit. Moving.”

Wow. I would bet money that when Chris Matthews sits to watch the video of the incredibly stupid things he has said he thinks “What the hell was I thinking?” JD
