Navy jet crashes in residential neighborhood of Virginia Beach

A Navy jet crashed into an apartment complex in Virginia Beach, Va., on Friday, damaging or destroying several buildings but so far producing no reports of major injuries on the ground.
The two pilots managed to eject from the jet, an FA-18 Superhornet, the Navy said in a press release. One of the pilots was treated at a nearby hospital. At least one person on the ground was transported to an area hospital for smoke inhalation, according to authorities. There were no immediate reports of other injuries or fatalities.
Emergency crews from the military, Virginia State Police and Virginia Beach police are all responding to the scene of the crash. The plane crashed into an apartment complex at 12:05 p.m., according to local media reports.
