Sacramento Reporters John Lobertini, Rebecca Little, attacked by angry mourners
People always ask me why I call my site BrokenCountry.com. Well here is one of many examples posted here on this site.
Sacramento News reporters John Lobertini and his camera woman Rebecca Little were attacked for daring to cover the makeshift, sidewalk memorial for 27-year-old Chester Jackson, who was gunned down the night before.
Although the people in this video can expect a reasonable right to privacy, they are meeting in a public place, a sidewalk, to mourn the loss of a loved one.
Correct me if I am wrong, but sidewalks are a public place for anyone to walk, wait for a ride, etc.
There is no privacy rights on a sidewalk. The fact that these people were in mourning is irrelevant. It does not give them the right to assault or for that matter even request that the news organizations leave the area.
Understanding that they are in mourning and probably not thinking rationally does not excuse them from the obvious. That would be that these people are guilty of assault and battery and should be arrested for their crimes. JD
