Here is a lame story. Cats holding knives is now inappropriate? First off, cat will turn just about anything into a toy, including pens and knives. None of the animals were harmed as far as I can tell. So what’s the big deal?

I’m sure PETA (Nimrods for the ethical treatment of Animals) will jump on this band wagon for the free publicity and the wheelbarrows of money that are sure to follow. JD

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating several animal shelter employees in the Facebook posting of photos of cats that had been tranquilized and posed for what apparently was supposed to be a joke.

The photos apparently were posted during the summer but came to light Monday night, when Charlotte City Council members received an update on the case.

Council members were told that police have conducted a hearing with three employees with Animal Care and Control, a division of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Council member Warren Cooksey told reporters that no decision has been announced on that hearing.

At least three Facebook photos have surfaced. One shows a cat with a cigarette in its mouth and a knife between its paws. Another has a cat, with a pen in its mouth.

WSOC-TV is reporting a third photo, showing a woman holding a ferret that is missing fur. That photo also has a caption, reading, “Someone thought it would be funny to Nair” the animal.
