A small earthquake hit Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties at 4:06 am this morning. Preliminary magnitudes are not yet known, but it was strong enough to wake my dead tired ass up out of bed to type this. JD

Update: Magnitude 4.4 earthquake hits the Whittier Narrows area of Los Angeles County. The earthquake was a strong shaker with quick sharp jolts that lasted about 20 seconds.

Whittier Narrows and Whittier are about 18 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. A large quake hit the same fault back in 1987 with a magnitude of 5.9 that caused widespread damage. JD
