Texas millionaire Harold Landry due in court over wife’s murder
Posted by webmasterFeb 5
The 63 year-old is due appear before Worcester Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
He is accused of the murder of his wife, Lucy, 38, at their five-bedroom home in Besford, Worcs.
Mrs Landry was found by neighbours yards from the home the couple shared with their daughter, seven, and Mrs Landry’s 14-year-old son by a previous marriage.
She died in a neighbour’s arms at 11.45pm on Monday night after she fell into his garden hedge with a kitchen knife embedded in her side. The children are believed to have been in the house at the time.
Mr Landry, who has four adult children in America, recently returned to the house after a three week break, according to neighbours.
He made his fortune designing hydraulic cranes on oil rigs in Texas. He had a house in Mexico and offices in Brazil. He was believed to have met his wife on the internet in 2000 while she researched a degree in town planning.
The senior investigating officer in the case, Det Chief Insp Lee Davenport, said: “West Mercia Police have charged a 63-year-old man with the murder of 38-year-old Mrs Lucy Landry.
“We would like to reassure residents living in the area that this was an isolated incident and that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with Mrs Landry’s murder.”
An inquest into Mrs Landry’s death is expected to be opened and adjourned on Friday.

Please, please, please reporters. If you're going to print, at least get the facts right about the accused. Harold Landry spent his entire life in Louisiana. I've read everything from "redneck to billionaire". You guys are out of control. Please, please do your research. From someone who's known this man almost his entire life, you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Sad journalism.
Wanda, why are you defending this man?
Lucy died of multiple stab wounds to her chest, and millionaire Harold (a.k.a."H") Landry, who has been living in the U.K. for 8+ years, has been charged with her murder!
I don't think she is defendng him. I was a neighbor in Louisiana and am profoundly shocked and saddened. He was very kind to his neighbors. And, yes, Cajun does not = redneck.
In the U.K. "redneck" is a loosely used term for someone from the southern States…..just as you would call someone from the U.K. a "limey". But what puzzles me is why you ladies seem to be more concerned about the word "redneck" than the horrific deed done!
I am a childhood friend of Mr. Landry's and played football with him in High School and have never known him to have a violent side. I wish every one would wait to pass judgement on him after the evidence in presented. Harold is a very decent person, and you can call me whatever you want, but I will always stand with a friend. Yes I am an American and we always believe you are incocent until you are proven guilty.
Quite right, there are 2 sides to a story. We seem only to hear one side. Lets allow the whole truth to emerge and why someone who seems to be well respected and kind by many who know him would suddenly 'crack' and commit murder. Surely there must be a much wider and in depth reasoning why this would happen. I don't wish to defend anyone or support any party in this regard but surely its only just and fair to be aware of all the relevant background of this relationship and what caused this usually amicable, kind many, as stated by many friends and neighbours, to do this 'totally out of character' act. The background of both in the marriage and anything pertaining to this should be fully investigated and known by the public at large before a view can be made by anyone – that's surely justice to character and relevant sentence.
Thanks Chisi, for your masterful oratory.
For anyone who thinks Landry is sweet and innocent should look at,

Perform a public criminal record search for Harold Landry (defendant).
The broken 1st of all i think you are very cheeky to have searched H & sad have you nothing better to do??? 2nd of all everyone has past and that is none of your business. H is a good man and Lucy was a good woman it is just unfortunate it came to what it did. Rose as Wanda has said people need to get there facts right before blabbing there mouths off about stuff they know nothing about, things that have been put in the press makes me sick, at last of all it makes me sick that people who didnt know these friends pass judgement.
There is a heck of a lot not known and probably never will be known even by their closest friends and family. No one has the right to pass judgement I bet even the court will only find a fraction of the true story.
All I can say is H is a friend from all the way back in elem. through High School. we spent many fun days together. H is a well respected Man and deserves a fair trial.
i do agree!!!
Oh my God! I am praying for poor little Harriet, James, Holden, Miles and Braithe that they have the strength to get through this extremely difficulty time in their lives.
I was sadden to see that Harold Landry had been charged in Louisiana, St. Tammany Parish according to court records with aggravated battery and attempted second degree murder. I suppose that squashes the argument about him being a kind and gentle man. I do know that Harold grew up in a very small town named Berwick in south Louisiana. He had a large number of brothers and sisters and the family didn't seem to do very well financially. There were few well-to-do families in Berwick during the late forties and early fifties. I knew Harold very well and I personally found him to be somewhat conceited, quick to anger, very, very aggressive and always striving to be something he was not. As for his guilt or innocence in the murder of his wife Lucy, that is for English courts to decide. Where is Johnnie Cochran when you need him?
According to British news: An American charged with the murder of his wife has been refused bail by a judge at Worcester Crown Court. Harold Landry, aged 63, of Besford Court Estate, near Pershore, is accused of killing his 38-year-old wife Lucy. He was not present in court today (22) but his barrister Nicolas Cartwright said he could live at an address in West Bromwich and put up a substantial surety to guarantee his attendance at court. Judge Alistair McCreath turned down the application. He said Landry, a retired engineer, must appear in court on "April 26" to enter his plea to the charge. Mrs Landry was found lying hear the couple's luxury home with multiple stab wounds on February 1. She was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.
The thing that gets me is "multiple stab wounds"………this could not have been an accident!
Hi Chester, I dont know if you remember me, but I was once engaged to Harold, when I lived in Berwick. My name is Bonnie, and I sit here today in total shock.I agree he does deserve a fair trial. This is just so hard to believe..
Perhaps the "snap" occurred when the thought of possibly losing all of his money to someone that he apparently "once" loved, but now didn't. I would like to know how this shakes down!
Lucy had already started a relationship with an old friend whom had been staying at the house whilst H was away. It is likely that the argument started over this rather than money I would say. Regardless of who knows who I guess we will never know what happened behind those closed doors. Lucy's last beau has since moved on and is dating one of Lucy's friends.
TSchroeder very true yes she did move boyfriend in whilst H was away!!! and then again when H went away again boyfriend in marital home an bed!!!! NO NO… now why does that not surprise me that the last 1 has moved on to date 1 of lucys friend, he maybe seen £ signs before all this happened,,, Interesting moving on so quickly!! i believe her last should take part responsilbilty…
H was a control freak and remains one to this day.
What Lucy did was inexcusable, H's actions are unforgivable.
My thoughts and prayers are with both families, none deserved this.
A friend…
All of this happened in February 2010. In the meantime, what has happened to Lucy's two children?
