Egonomics. I thought I would coin a new phrase here because I have never seen two people with bigger egos. An ego, especially a male ego is an interesting thing, because as much as we men act like tough guys and think we can take on the world and win, but the reality is that even the most subtle attack on the male ego can send a man into an emotional tailspin which may take years to recover from. What I intend to do here is ask, how much ego is too much ego? Perhaps some men need to be on an ego budget, and Obama and Tiger are two prime examples of men who’s egos are so out of control that they border on being ego-maniacal sociopaths. They need to be on an egonomic budget.

Lets take the last couple of weeks in the life of Tiger Woods as our first example of egonomics out of control. Tiger gets in an argument with his wife, gets in his car in what many are calling a drug induced, drunken stupor, and proceeds to crash not once, but twice. First into a fire hydrant, then into a tree. When discovered by his neighbors, he is sound asleep in the middle of the street. Snoring! Asleep!

Tiger’s reaction? To lash out at the media for daring to ask him what happened. First, he had his agent Mark Steinberg tell everyone in the media, that any news outlet that gives Tiger negative press over this will never be allowed to interview Tiger again. This is the first real sign of Tiger’s arrogance and massive ego. Most in the public thought that Tiger was a mans man. We all thought that Tiger Woods was the kind of guy that, if you saw him in a diner, he would invite you to his table and pick up the tab.

This is because its all about public image. Tiger Woods instructs his agent and his PR people to push this image to the public. Because public image is everything. If Tiger maintains this public image, people will see him on television hawking tennis shoes and go out and buy them because Tiger Woods says they are a good shoe. If Tiger Woods uses Callaway golf clubs, every golfer in America will buy them because Tiger uses them. Can you see where I’m going with this?

Now there is a problem. Tiger, according to some media reports, abuses prescription drugs. Tiger Woods frequents strip joints. Tiger woods has had a numerous affairs, that according to the media, number more than ten different women now. The irony here is that the women that he cheated with, that knew that Tiger was married, are upset that he was cheating on them with other women. It makes one wonder what Tiger was telling these bimbos in the first place.

Woods first reaction was to blame the press. Blame them for prying into his personal life. Then he blamed the reaction of his wife on the media scrutiny, and the rumors and lies they were fabricating about him. To date, not of these “rumors” have been proven false. Tigers next reaction was to blame the people around him for letting him get into this mess in the first place.

The one thing that Tiger has not done so far, is except responsibility for his actions. This is where ego comes in. Because people like Tiger Woods, Sean Penn, Serena Williams, they believe that they are above reproach because of who they are. Serena Williams tells a line judge that she is going to shove a tennis ball down her throat and kill her? Well she is Serena Williams damn it! Don’t you realize who she is? Sean Penn walks around Hollywood socking up photographers? He is Sean Penn Damn it! Tiger Woods is a pill popping drunkard and a womanizer? He’s Tiger Woods. Don’t you know? He can walk on water too!

President Obama is the same kind of person. He flies about the world like a rock star, expecting people to give him this same kind of star treatment. It has been said that a whole floor of the west wing is reserved for Obama’s ego. This has been disregarded by the liberal media, but it was not that long ago that President Obama and the first lady were so full of themselves that they flew to Copenhagen, in the middle of health care and Afghanistan debates, to use their perceived rock star status to try to convince the International Olympic Committee to choose Chicago to host the Olympic games in 2016. It was a huge embarrassment for Obama. Almost as big as bowing to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.

The IOC had four contenders. Japan, Brazil, Spain and the United States. The Obama’s went there with the notion that they were so popular not just in the states, but around the world, that if the showed up personally and spoke about having the games in Chicago, it would be a lock. Surely the IOC would be so star struck, so mezmerized by the mere presence of such greatness, they would simply give the games to Chicago.

Chicago came in fourth, behind Japan, Spain and the winner, Rio Di Janeiro. Obama, looking like the buffoon that he is, stood there in stunned silence. Rumor has it that the Obama’s left Copenhagen in a huff, and vowed to never return. Typical actions from an ego-maniac. The Obama’s simply couldn’t understand, or for that matter comprehend, how the IOC could not simply bow to their greatness and give the Americans the 2016 Olympics. It has been said that Michelle Obama pissed and moaned about it all the way back to Washington.

This is but one example of Obama’s arrogance. Others include believing that going to the hill to push for his dopey programs will convince the legislation to pass them. The man truly believes, ala Bill Clinton, that he is a rock star. He believes that he is above reproach. That he should not be questioned as to his motives, that people should simply do as he says, because he’s Obama Damn it!

So what are we as Americans to do? Simply allow these people to behave as if they are somehow better than the rest of us? Accept Tiger Woods behavior simply because he is a great golfer? Accept President Obama’s arrogance simply because he is the first half black president? The rest of the Hollywood and sports celebrities behavior simply because they are on TV or in the movies?

I have news for you. President Obama, Tiger Woods, Serena Williams, Sean Penn and all the rest of them are just like you and me. They are human beings. They are not immortal. They all have to put on their own clothes, shower their own bodies, brush their own teeth and wipe their own asses. Its the American population that makes these people what they are. We treat them as if they shit marble and piss wine. But we can break them too. Once the American public turns their back on you, its over. Dig up Richard Nixon and ask him. Tiger Woods will find this out soon enough. Like Obama in Copenhagen, Tiger Woods will have to swallow a slice of humble pie and do something that has probably never been asked of him before. Apologize. JD
