Me when I just wake up and find out that there is no stimulus package..
I am reading with great interest the news about Americans for Prosperity or AFP, whose servers have been brought down by all the hits generated by the news surrounding this organization. I found it on Google News. It seems that we have a group of people here at AFP that do not agree with President Obama about the economy or the current stimulus package now being considered in the congress.
Apparently this has created quite an uproar among the kool-aide drinking liberals out there who believe virtually everything the democratic party says. Contrary to popular belief, in America you still have the right to disagree with the policies of any given political party. Well at least for the time being. After all we have democrats pushing a “Fairness Doctrine” which will give the democrats, who already have a stranglehold on the national media the ability to all but stymie any opposing point of view.
I don’t understand why people on both sides of the isle think the way they do. I try to keep an open mind going into any argument. Good ideas come from both sides of the isle. But these ideologues from websites that simply insist that by default, that “their way of thinking is the only way of thinking” are simply fools that don’t care about anything but thinking they are right.
While searching a great news source I have been using for a few years called Newsmaps, I stumbled upon all of these blogs and websites that are ripping the AFP people and any supporters of AFP a new backside for doing exactly what America was founded on, DISAGREEING. Disagreeing with the current administration and it’s policy with regard to the economy and the current economic situation.
Now I have been known to rip down a few ideas on this site, but I do so after reading both sides of the argument so I can form an informed opinion on any given issue. I make accusations, but I back most of those accusations up with links to mostly non-partisan websites that give the necessary information and allow a person to make an informed decision on an issue.
The stuff I have read on some of these wibsites and blogs is not only blatant lies, but most of it is baseless and without merit. This particular one, called The Wonk Room written by Brad Johnson ( I linked to it so you can go see for yourself) just roundly attacks anyone that does not subscribe to their way of thinking. It’s embarrassing.
Now I read the Wiki on the AFP and it reads as follows; Americans For Prosperity (AFP) is a non-partisan Washington D.C.-based political advocacy group which describes itself on its Web site as “… an organization of grassroots leaders who engage citizens in the name of limited government and free markets on the local, state and federal levels.”
Now I am not dumb enough to believe that an organization with this kind of thinking is just rife with liberal democrats, but I am also not dumb enough to think that there are not any democrats that are against the Obama Stimulus package at least in it’s current form. Contrary to Mr. Johnson’s and countless others out there in cyberspace and in the media, it’s okay to disagree with anyone or anything regardless of political or ideological beliefs.
I too enjoy attacking people or groups of people but I try to limit it to groups that work for the government. You can find my attacks all over this very site. I attack firemen, because they are overpaid especially here in California where they make up to three hundred thousand dollars a year. Celebrities because they think that because they are on TV or film (Think Oprah or Robert Redford) that they somehow know more than the “little people.” And politicians from both sides of the isle. I think that they all suck and they are only looking out for themselves. But I don’t attack groups of people just because their way of thinking is not the same as my own. Think before you speak. JD
