Yet another teacher was arested on molestation charges. This time it was a teacher that was within one block of my house, and it was a female. This woman taught my 11 year old last year. I am absolutely furious about this.

Police arrested an elementary school teacher Thursday morning for allegedly having sex with a teenage boy who was her former student.

Debra Lynn Pence, 47, was booked on suspicion of having unlawful sexual intercourse and committing lewd acts upon a child 14 or 15. She posted bail and will be in court next month, police said.

Pence is a resource teacher at Allen Avenue Elementary School in San Dimas, authorities said.

The boy was a former student of Pence but it’s unknown what school he attended. She also was his former tutor, according to Sgt. Dan Scott of the sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau, which is handling the investigation.

The alleged molestation happened between April 1 and July 1 in Los Angeles County, Scott said. Pence was an acquaintance of the boy’s family at that point.

Scott said he didn’t know how the case started, but said the boy made the allegations.

The alleged molestation didn’t happen at the school, Scott said.

Robert Otto, Bonita Unified School District superintendent, said they were told of the arrest by law enforcement officials.

“We just found out today so we’re in the process of notifying people at this point. The district will take steps to place the teacher on leave,” Otto said. “The district is never pleased to deal with situations of this type.”

He said Pence wasn’t at school this week. Otto said she’s worked there since 1997.
